TOP signing Ryan Hinchcliffe has hailed the quality of the Giants squad ahead of the new Super League XXI season.
Huddersfield opened their 2016 account at St Helens next Friday night, with former Melbourne Storm Australian NRL and World Club Challenge winner Hinchcliffe expected to be a key figure for the club.
The vastly-experienced hooker warmed up for the trip to Langtree Park with two impressive pre-season performances to help the Giants win 38-6 at Hull KR and 26-16 at home to Catalans Dragons.
But while the claret and gold fans were impressed with Hinchcliffe, the 31-year-old Hinchcliffe was equally as impressed with his new teammates.
“I knew I was coming to a club on the rise,” said the Australian. “And that’s been reinforced to me during the three months I’ve been here.
“I’ve been impressed with the overall quality of the squad, and many of the players are good enough to play in the NRL, and play well. The younger fellas are also a talented bunch, as well.
“I know it’s far too early at this stage to say whether we’ll end up winning anything this season. We’ll probably have a bit more of an idea after the first few rounds.
“But I have been genuinely encouraged by what I’ve seen, and there’s no doubt we have the potential to go very well.”
