LATEST signing Matthew Sarsfield has admitted he can’t wait to make his Giants debut at Batley on Sunday.
The 18-year-old back-row forward has today signed a three-year full-time contract after joining from Wigan Warriors.
Sarsfield arrives on the back of a starring role for the England Academy in their Test series triumph over Australia and a trial spell in West Yorkshire.
He is expected to join fellow new top young signings Jon Molloy, Joe Wardle and Matthew Dawson in the Giants line-up for the pre-season trip to Mount Pleasant (2pm).
And Sarsfield admits he’s excited about the prospect of wearing the famous claret and gold for the first time.
“I could have signed earlier at other clubs, but the Giants are where I wanted to be and I’m delighted to have got this deal,” he said.
“Jon (Molloy) told me lots about the club and how good the coaching and set-up was, and I’m convinced that I can reach my potential here under Browny (Nathan Brown) and his staff.
“The step-up to full-time will be hard, but it’s a challenge I’m looking forward to and to making my debut at Batley at the weekend. I can’t wait for that!
“We’ve got a lot of younger players all pushing for first-team places in these friendly games ahead, and all of them look to have the benefit of full-time training, which makes such a difference. ”
