GIANTS chief Jon Sharp is targeting a win against in-form Salford at The Willows tonight (8.00) in order to strengthen his side's top-six spot ahead of the busy Easter period.

Victory for the fifth-placed Giants (eight League points) over Salford in fourth (10 points) could see Sharp's men open up a four-point gap on the chasing pack.

That would be a huge psychological boost for Huddersfield as they prepare to face Hull FC at the Galpharm on Good Friday and then travel to Bradford Bulls on Easter Tuesday.

The top priority right now is obviously tonight's tough test against the form team in Super League.

But Sharp knows just how important a win could be as part of the wider picture.

"Victory tonight would put us in a great position at this stage of the season," confirmed the head coach.

"To go into Easter in a strong top-six position is exactly what we want. It sets us up perfectly for the big games ahead.

"But, of course, we need to focus fully on Salford first. That's all that really matters.

"Tonight is a massive challenge for us.

"We're determined to build on our last two Super League wins (at home to Harlequins and then away to Castleford) to keep up our momentum.

"To do that we know we need to be at our very best."
