GIANTS coach Jon Sharp has ordered his players to go out against Bradford Bulls on Sunday (3.00) and give him a massive selection headache.

Sharp has named his strongest available side for the trip to Odsal in the club's only major warm-up match ahead of their Super League X opener at Leigh on Saturday, February 12.

Apart from Australian Test star Michael De Vere (knee), all of Sharp's senior men have been included in a 21-man squad (full details page 42).

The Giants chief has made it clear that individual performances this weekend will determine who gets the final nod to start against Leigh.

And Sharp won't be happy if he isn't faced with some major selection problems after this weekend's 80 minutes of action.

"One of the main priorities on Sunday has to be to come through this match injury-free," he said.

"We've not got the largest squad in the world and the last thing we need at the start of the season is to be lacking the services of several key players.

"But my main hope is to see our new combinations working well and for the new players to be integrating successfully into our systems.

"The new boys have looked very good in training, but the acid test is obviously how they look in a game. We'll see on Sunday.

"And we know that in Bradford Bulls we'll be facing one of the ultimate tests.

"Because this is our only first-team warm-up match I felt it was vital to play against a quality side.

"To have played a National League side and run up a cricket score would have served no purpose whatsoever.

"It would have looked as if eveything was rosy in the garden and possibly lulled everybody into a false sense of security.

"We know that by playing a team like Bradford, everything we've worked on in training will be put to the ultimate test.

"It'll give me time to put things right if they don't all go according to plan.

"Obviously, I hope we encounter no such problems, and my major concern is who to play and who to leave out for the game at Leigh."
