PATIENT Giants coach Jon Sharp will wait until his club are on their pre-season training camp in Portugal before he unveils his captain for 2006.

All three main contenders, Chris Thorman, Robbie Paul and Brad Drew, have now reported for training as the club gears for Super League XI.

Thorman is the favourite, but with Paul having been captain when the Bulls secured the treble of the World Club Challenge, Super League and Challenge Cup in 2003, the New Zealander can't be ruled out.

And Sharp has admitted that Drew's on-field influence last season hasn't gone unnoticed.

"There's still no great rush to name my captain," said Sharp.

"But I am starting to take a closer look in pre-season training as to which players are making a notable impact and who are earning the greatest respect among their teammates.

"Chris has already been back in pre-season training for a couple of weeks, despite having spent the end of the last regular season training with England.

"And Robbie and Brad are now with us. But I'll wait until we're in Portugal before the final decision is made."

Meanwhile, new Super League club Castleford Tigers have finally completed the signing of former Giants skipper Ben Roarty. Full details - Page 38.
