UPBEAT Giants coach Jon Sharp is hoping his Tetley's Super League Coach of the Month Award will provide his players with an added lift ahead of Friday's home clash against Salford (7.30).

Sharp became the first winner of this season's award after guiding the Giants to their best Super League start.

As well as beating Wigan, Widnes and Castleford, the Giants have reached the Cup semi-finals for the first time in 33 years.

"I know it's one of the oldest cliches, but this really is an award for us all," said Sharp.

"If it hadn't been for the support of my backroom staff, there's no way we would have achieved so much.

"Then, of course, there's the players, who have been fantastic. I hope this award gives them a lift as well."
