HUDDERSFIELD Giants will return to pre-season training in the best possible shape!
That's the view of head coach Jon Sharp ahead of next month's official start.
Although full training doesn't get under way until December 6, the majority of the Giants squad have been involved in an off-season weights and fitness programme for several weeks.
And Sharp believes this extra work, which is under the guidance of head of athletic performance Geoff Evans, will stand his players in good stead.
"Physically, I feel the boys need to be a bit stronger, and that's why they are in the gym now," explained Sharp, who is in constant touch with his staff while he is away on Great Britain Tri-Nations business.
"All the reports I am receiving about the way the boys have been training have been positive.
"I speak to my staff on a daily basis and they're really pleased with the way things have been going.
"And the times I've seen them working myself I have been very encouraged.
"Hopefully, it means that when pre-season gets into full swing, the boys will be in great shape.
"But there's no question the signs are looking good."
