SHAUN LUNT will return to Huddersfield Giants pre-season training and give 100% to the cause.

That’s the clear message from head coach Paul Anderson as he prepares to welcome back the hooker from his loan spell at Leeds Rhinos.

The 25-year-old finished his Super League time at Headingley by helping the Rhinos win the Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford.

Lunt also played for Leeds in this season’s Challenge Cup final at Wembley, which they lost.

But Anderson has brought him back to Huddersfield to see out the rest of his three-year Giants contract and has immediately handed him the first-choice hooking role.

“Shaun has made no secret of how much he enjoyed his time away,” said Anderson, assistant to previous head coach Nathan Brown when Lunt was allowed to join Leeds.

“Who wouldn’t if their last game for their former club was a Super League Grand Final victory?

“But knowing Lunty as I do, I know he’ll come back here and work just as hard as ever, and when he puts that Huddersfield shirt back on he’ll give everything for us.

“The only difference this time around is that he’s now a winner and has just come from a winning environment – the sort of environment we’re looking to create here at the Giants.

“Because his season went right to the end, we haven’t welcomed him back to pre-season training yet.

“But he knows that welcome will be warm, and we know he’ll be as determined to succeed as ever.”
