I'M absolutely delighted we've been able to sign Steve Snitch from Wakefield.
For those of you who know little about him, he's a young, athletic and tough forward who I believe has the potential to be one of the best in Super League.
He's a player I've watched with interest over the years.
He arrived at Wakefield just as I was leaving the club in 2000, and from day one my contacts at Belle Vue have been raving about him.
As a result, he's someone I have monitored very closely and have now been able to act upon it to make him our second new signing in the space of a few weeks.
He does, of course, follow Andy Raleigh from Hull KR.
And I'm very confident Steve won't be the last new arrival.
I'm looking to bring in another four or five players to boost our current squad, and hopefully some deals will be concluded in the coming weeks.
The completion of a signing often ends a process that can take almost 12 months to come to fruition.
Although our priority will always be the current season, you always have to plan for the long-term.
That's why we take a look at the players who may become available at the end of the following season, and get ready to make a move if necessary.
During the course of the year, you keep having a look at them to see if their progress is continuing and that you still feel they could do you a job.
Obviously, interest will cool on some players during this process, but for others that interest remains, and in some cases grows. That was the case with Steve.
