STEPHEN WILD is closing in on a Giants Super League return and desperate to help his teammates erase the memory of the Catalans Dragons’ horror show.

The Great Britain back-rower has not played since suffering a serious wrist injury at Warrington on Good Friday.

But he is hoping to play for the Reserves at Wigan on Saturday week and then force his way back into top-flight contention for the Wakefield trip the following Sunday.

“I had my cast off last week and hope to be back in full training with the lads next week,” revealed the 28-year-old, who was in last year’s Super League Dream Team.

“Hopefully, there will be no problems and I’ll be able to play against Wigan.

“If that’s the case, then my return would be two weeks ahead of schedule, which would be a massive bonus.

“And I have to admit, the sooner I can get back, the better.

“I was absolutely gutted when I heard the result from France, but that was nothing compared with how some of the boys sounded when I spoke to them when they got back.

“I think it’s at times like that when being injured hits you so hard. You’re powerless to help your teammates out.

“But, hopefully, I can play well at Wigan, come back to face Wakefield a week later and then do whatever I can to try and get that Catalans defeat out of the system.

“I’m desperate to do what I can make sure there’s no repeat of that again.”
