JON SHARP is relishing the chance to see his Giants put in some quality work outdoors!
His Super League squad yesterday left the wind and rain of England for the dry and sunny conditions of Portugal.
Sharp was today putting his players through their paces on a full-sized pitch for the first time in months.
And the Giants chief is determined to make the most of it.
"This time yesterday, there's no way we could have put in some quality work outside," said Sharp, speaking from the Brown's Leisure Complex on the Algarve.
"The wind, rain and heavy pitches over the past few months have made it virtually impossible for us to train effectively.
"We have been able to use the sports barn, but there's only so much you can do in there.
"At this stage of pre-season you need to be outside on a full-sized pitch, fine-tuning the pre-season work.
"In England, that's a total impossibility right now.
"But out here it's going to be a totally different proposition.
"The skies are clear, it's very pleasantly warm and the fields are dry. In fact, they had the sprinklers on for us last night!
"The forecast is the same for the whole week we're here, and we really couldn't ask for anything more than that.
"Hopefully, it should mean we're right where we need to be when we get back home."
