FLYING Huddersfield Giants winger Marcus St Hilaire has pledged a further season to his hometown club.

The 27-year-old former Moldgreen junior has today put pen to paper on a one-year contract extension.

The deal is a reward for a consistent start to the Super League season, which has so far bagged him eight tries.

It's a haul that's delighted head coach Jon Sharp, who believes the new contract has been well earned.

"I'm always looking for consistency in players, and that's what I've had from Marcus this season," said Sharp.

"He's scored some good tries and looked strong on defence.

"The hope now is that with a new contract having been earned, he can focus 100% on his game for the rest of the season and help us keep in the top six.

"I'm obviously looking for that process to start on Sunday when we travel to Salford and get back on the winning track after the defeat against Wakefield.

"The news with Marcus has certainly given us a lift."

St Hilaire joined the Giants from Leeds midway through the club's NFP title-winning season of 2002.

That marked a return to his first professional club, which he joined in 1994 before moving to Leeds in 1996.
