GREAT BRITAIN head to the Galpharm Stadium this Saturday knowing they need to beat New Zealand to keep their Gillette Tri-Nations dream alive.

The Lions suffered a cruel last-minute 12-8 defeat in their opening game against Australia at the weekend.

It was a victory that has guaranteed the Kangaroos a place in the Tri-Nations final on Saturday, November 27.

Who they meet will depend on the results of the two Lions v Kiwi clashes at the Galpharm on Saturday and then at Hull's KC Stadium two weeks later.

And it's a fact not lost on Lions coach Brian Noble.

"We were disappointed to lose in the last second against Australia, but it's not the end of the world," he said.

"That was a match we knew we didn't have to win, but it's a different story at Huddersfield this weekend.

"To reach the Tri-Nations final we know that we need to knock off New Zealand, and that's what we intend doing.

"Although we were beaten by Australia, I thought it was a great effort for a first hit-out.

"The Australia game has given us something to work on ahead of Huddersfield. That's another big game."

Meanwhile, the Giants await news of full-back Paul Reilly who was injured during England's 42-4 victory in France on Saturday ahead of the European Nations Cup final against Ireland at Warrington next Sunday.
