Ukuma Ta'ai's confident of hitting his best form in what’s the most important season in his Huddersfield Giants career.

With the 27-year-old Tonga World Cup back-row forward about to embark on the final year of his current three-year contract, he knows the stakes for his future couldn’t be much higher.

But after finishing last season in top form and being involved in his first full Giants pre-season, he’s ready to prove he’s got even more to offer over the next few years.

“I’m really excited about the challenges I’m about to face,” said Ta’ai.

Because this is my first full pre-season, I’m looking forward to starting a season fitter than ever before and building on what I felt was a good second half of last year for me.

“If I do that, I’d be more than happy, particularly as I don’t know what the future holds for me at the moment.

“I’d be delighted if I was offered a new Giants deal.

“But the main thing right now is making sure I can keep giving the best for the team and take things from there.

“Making sure I play well in the first trial game at Bradford on Sunday is my sole focus this week.”
