Reports that Sydney Roosters could be signing suspended Huddersfield Giants star Brett Ferres appear to have been a non-starter.

Speculation was rife in Australia that the Roosters were close to agreeing terms with Ferres following his suspension by Huddersfield for an alleged extra-marital affair. He is currently banned by the Giants pending an investigation into his behaviour.

But with Ferres still having four years remaining on his current Giants contract, the 29-year-old’s future remains uncertain right now.

There would be no shortage of interest in Ferres if he does become available, however, with at least two NRL clubs and two from Super League – thought to be Hull FC and Salford – keen to sign the former Bradford and Castleford man.
