BIG new signing Stephen Wild is hoping to enhance the growing reputation of the Galpharm Stadium as a Giants fortress - by teaming up with a former Wigan colleague.

The 24-year-old yesterday completed a move to the Giants from Wigan on a two-year contract.

It will give the Great Britain international the chance to link up again with former Wigan Academy teammate Stuart Jones.

The pair worked together in the Warriors' second row as they swept all before them at Academy level.

And Wild is hoping to forge the partnership again as he bids to make the Giants one of the most feared home teams in Super League.

"Over the past couple of years, Huddersfield have become a team no-one likes to play at their place," said Wild.

"Wigan's victory at the Galpharm last week was their first in the last four matches there, so everyone at the club was delighted to have got the win.

"The Galpharm has become a bit of a fortress for the Giants over the last few years, and I hope I can help add to that reputation in the seasons ahead.

"And it would be great if I could do it in the second row alongside Stuart Jones.

"Stuart is a fantastic player, a real unsung hero, and we were all surprised when Wigan allowed him to join St Helens.

"I built up a great working relationship with him in what was a very successful Wigan Academy team, and I hope we can do it again here."
