CONGRATULATIONS to Chris Thorman on being named the Giants' Player of the Year.
It's an award that is thoroughly deserved and obviously comes on the back of being named the Super League Player of the Month for August.
But even though no-one will be too surprised Chris, right, got the nod, it was a very close call.
In fact, it was not a straight decision at all.
I decided that the best way to vote on it, would be for each member of the coaching staff to cast three votes, with three points for their first choice, two for their second and one for their third.
Six staff had a vote and we needed to check and double check to make sure we were spot-on with the count.
In the end, Chris emerged on top, although he really was pushed all the way by Brad Drew, left
Hardly any votes separated them at the end, and Brad can count himself very unlucky not to scoop the award, because he really has been exceptional.
But, at the end of the day, Chris's consistency over the season and his late surge of points couldn't be ignored.
