The return of Tom Symonds could hand Huddersfield Giants chief Rick Stone a major pack poser.

The Huddersfield head coach has confirmed back-row forward Symonds has now made a full recovery from a calf injury and will feature in Sunday’s Middle 8s clash against Batley Bulldogs.

It will be the former Manly star’s first game in four weeks.

With Symonds having picked up the Giants’ Player of the Month award for July following his arrival from the Australian NRL just under two months ago, it was always expected the 27-year-old would slot straight back in.

But after Stone handed out praise for the work of all his forwards in the 62-16 home thrashing of Featherstone Rovers at the weekend, who Symonds will replace is far from certain.

“As a coach, it’s always the case that the more options you’ve got, the better,” said Stone.

“But I was a lot more encouraged with the way the forwards played at the weekend.

“They played with more aggression than I’ve seen in my first three games here, so carrying that through is something we’re looking to see again.”
