TOWN face a first competitive meeting with Mansfield since the 2004 play-off final in the first round of the Carling Cup.

Peter Jackson's men will host the Stags on Tuesday, August 22.

Town beat Mansfield in a penalty shoot-out in Cardiff to win promotion to League I two years ago.

Since then, the Stags have finished 13th and 16th in their division.

It will be the third meeting of the clubs in the League Cup.

Town won 7-2 over two legs in the first round in 1983-84 and 4-3 over two legs at the same stage in 1998-99.

Jackson, whose side were among the seeds in the Northern half of the draw, was happy with the home draw, saying: "It's all you can ask for.

"We had a fine time in this competition last season, when we played well over at Blackburn, and we'd like another run."
