GIANTS chairman Ken Davy today described the club's clean sweep of Super League awards as "absolutely phenomenal."

Not only were the Giants named engage Super League club of the year, but Nathan Brown won coach of the year and full-back Brett Hodgson took the prestigious Man of Steel award.

Davy - whose club finished third in the table, reached the Challenge Cup final but lost in the play-offs - said: "It's remarkable and a recognition of all the work that's been done at the club by everyone concerned.

"Winning club of the year is fantastic in itself, but Nathan was recognised for the fantastic job he has done in bringing the club forward on the playing level and then to cap it all, Brett got the main award as Man of Steel.

"To win one award would be fantastic for Huddersfield Giants, but to scoop the board is absolutely phenomenal."

Davy stressed it has not been overnight success.

"We have been building solidly for five or six years and our support has increased dramatically," he said.

"Not too many years ago, 1,500 would have been quite a good crowd, but then we got back in Super League and, since then, discounting last year's blip we have been right back on track, which is great for the supporters, the players and the backroom staff."

The 31-year-old former Wests Tigers favourite Hodgson, who was named Rugby League Writers’ Association player of the year last month, said the Man of Steel accolade was the "pinnacle" of his career.

The club captain, who was deemed to have made the biggest impact on the season, postponed his flight back to Australia in order to attend last night’s event and the decision paid off when he beat off competition from reigning Man of Steel James Graham and Warrington captain Adrian Morley.

"Just to be nominated as one of the three players was such a big honour so there was no way I was going to miss such a big occasion," he said.

"I’m over the moon, just so proud. This honour is absolutely huge. It’s just something you don’t dream about at the start of the year.

"I’ll have to pinch myself in the next few days to realise what I’ve achieved."
