Giants will always be welcome

THE owner of Huddersfield Giants' Portuguese training camp has jumped to the club's defence.

Alan Brown believes the incident which resulted in the arrest of Ryan Hudson on a drunken night out with his new teammates was completely out of character to the way the squad have behaved during their week at the Brown's Leisure complex.

It's the third year on the trot the Giants have stayed at the facility on the Algarve.

And Brown has nothing but praise for the manner in which every member of the Giants' party has always conducted themselves.

"I've been made aware of the reports that have appeared in the British media, and find them almost impossible to believe," he said.

"It's true that some of the players were given Saturday night off, and went out.

"But I can assure you that many of them stayed at the Brown's complex.

"That's because many of them were too tired to go out!

"I can't say I'm at all surprised.

"The squad work incredibly hard while they're out here, and I would offer anyone a free week at the complex to train with the Giants to see for themselves how much effort they put in.

"The players have been model professionals on all three visits and I would welcome them back with open arms.

"It is obviously unfortunate what happened at the weekend, but as far as I'm concerned it is completely out of character.

"They look like a squad who mean real business in the next Super League season."
