FORMER Huddersfield coach John Kear could be set to ring the changes as he prepares his Wakefield Trinity side to take on the Giants at the Galpharm.

Wildcats chief Kear is still searching for answers to what he has described as his players’ ‘penthouse and doghouse performances’ ahead of Sunday’s derby clash.

The latest low was a 50-6 home drubbing at the hands St Helens and Kear looks set to review which players he feels can compete with the Giants, who know that just a point from the game would ensure a place in the play-offs.

“This is the biggest hole we’ve been in since I’ve been here,” said Kear.

“We need to address it and whether that’s personnel change or whatever, I don’t know.

“But there’s a lot of reflection to be going on this week because we either win by 40 or 50 or collapse and lose by 40 or 50.

“We’ve asked about our character in the group. Are we strong enough as a group, tough it out when things are against us? Or do we think it’s acceptable to just collapse and capitulate which is what we’re doing too frequently.

“The results over the last couple of months are either a resounding win or an absolute hiding and Super League isn’t supposed to be like that, it’s about being in the fight, working hard and winning competitive games.

“But we’re not making games competitive.”
