NO-NONSENSE Giants coach Jon Sharp is demanding a big improvement in his side's performance as they prepare for Sunday's exciting opening home clash against Hull FC (3.00).
Huddersfield signalled their Super League X intentions with a highly impressive 30-12 triumph at Leigh Centurions in last Saturday's top-flight opener.
The nature of the victory has made the rest of Super League sit up and take notice. But Sharp believes there are many areas that still need to be improved.
He knows it is vital for his side to step up another gear if they are to beat the club where he enjoyed 10 years as a player.
"We know we have to be at our very best," warned Sharp.
"Although I was pleased with a lot of what we did at Leigh, I know there's still massive room for improvement.
"And to guarantee any level of success this weekend we know that improvement needs to be seen at the Galpharm. Hull have speed in abundance and skilful players all across the park.
"But in their narrow defeat to Leeds a week ago I was also highly impressed with their commitment and tenacity in defence."
Sharp has named the same 20-man squad as last week, with team changes expected to be few.
Half-back Paul March is fully fit following illness.
