HUDDERSFIELD Giants are back in business!

Yesterday's superb 24-22 triumph over a Wigan team who finished last season as the form side in Super League suggests coach Jon Sharp's side are right on track for the start of the new campaign.

That gets under way with the Super League opener at home to St Helens on Sunday, February 4.

Before then, there's the testimonial match for Paul Reilly and Keith Senior at Headingley on Friday night (8.00).

And if the Giants can build on the excellent work put in yesterday against the Warriors, Huddersfield could make a big impact.

"As a group, I thought we were pretty good," said Sharp, who is refusing to get carried away with the way the whole of his side performed in a top-quality show.

"We looked fairly strong, in good nick and scored some good tries.

"I was a little disappointed in the way we conceded one or two of the tries.

"But, overall, it was a good start.

"And it was obviously good to see how well all our new signings fitted in. They all made good contributions.

"I'm also sure Ryan Hudson will have been delighted to have got that first game back (after a two-year drugs ban) out of the way. It was always going to be tough for him after two years out, but I felt he handled it very well."

The Giants are now gearing up for the club's shirt launch at Billie Rox tonight (from 7.00).
