INFLUENTIAL Giants skipper Brett Hodgson will miss Sunday's Super League trip to Wakefield Trinity Wildcats after failing to recover from a quad-muscle injury.

That forced him to miss last week's shock 24-4 home defeat to Salford City Reds, and hopes were high he would be back for the West Yorkshire derby.

But Huddersfield head coach Nathan Brown has confirmed the 31-year-old Australian goalkicking loose-forward has failed a fitness test but should return for next Sunday's big home Carnegie Challenge Cup quarter-final clash against Castleford Tigers.
