GIANTS and England star Eorl Crabtree aims to make the Galpharm ‘home sweet home’ on Sunday.

The 28-year-old prop is still stinging from the defeat at Castleford and believes the side are ready to turn on a show against Hull FC in their first home outing of Super League XVI (3.00).

“To be honest, all the lads are a bit gutted by what happened on Saturday,” he reflected.

“We were very disappointed with the way we lost the game and all aspects of our performance.

“We played nothing like the way we did against Warrington and, fair credit to Castleford, they were fantastic and deserved the points.

“It’s a long season, though, and it’s just one game.

“A blip at the beginning is probably a positive thing if we can learn some lessons and make sure we improve over the course of the season.

“We’ve got the chance to start at home in front of our passionate supporters and against a very tough Hull outfit.”

After Millennium Magic and Wheldon Road, Crabtree has a good feeling about being back on home soil for round three of the competition.

“I think everyone is looking forward to playing in front of our home crowd; they can be very vocal when they turn out in force and we want to give them something to shout about,” he said.

“It’s an important thing for us all, the players love the reception we get and the fans love us winning, so it’s a big day and I’m sure we can get it right.”

Crabtree is adamant he and his teammates will rise to the occasion for the visit of Richard Agar’s side, who are looking to record their first victory of the season following defeats to Hull KR and Leeds Rhinos.

“We are confident going into every game, we know we are a decent team with some great players and a lot of strength in depth as well, nothing that happened on Saturday can change that,” ventured Crabtree.

“I don’t know if there will be any changes this week but no matter who plays, they will give everything and do a good job.

“It is about our performance now; we need to improve because we just weren’t good enough against Castleford. We know Hull are a difficult and tough side so we need to be on top of our game to get the two points.”
