ROBBIE PAUL is predicting the Giants will be in great shape when they return to pre-season training.

The Kiwi star helped Huddersfield to a first Challenge Cup final appearance in 44 years last season and a final placing of ninth in Super League.

That cup run, however, meant the Giants were the only senior Super League squad not to have had a week off in 2006.

But even though Paul believes the Giants' off-season training schedule on the back of such a punishing season is the toughest he can ever remember, he feels his teammates will be in the peak of condition.

"Everyone is building their strength and fitness towards pre-season and all of us will be ready," said the 30-year-old, who will be back at the club with the majority of the squad next Monday.

"It's the toughest 'home' programme ever in terms of training and keeping ticking over and I'm sure we'll feel the benefits.

"We've obviously also had a bit of time to get some rest, though, and I've enjoyed just putting my feet up and relaxing.

"I've had some time to myself just to 'chill' and now I'm feeling very rested and refreshed.

"I've seen the rest of the boys on a very regular basis and I know they share the same feelings as me.

"We're looking forward to getting back to working together again."
