UNDERBANK travel to Warrington (2.30) looking to move one step closer to the Conference National play-off final.

Despite being heavy underdogs, Rangers claimed a 34-24 triumph at Dewsbury Celtic six days ago to advance to the next round.

Consequently, the hard-fought victory leaves them just three games away from the final.

Ahead of the Warrington tie, player-coach Aaron Perrin said: “It will be a hard test but we realise that every game from now on will be difficult.”

The Australian, who returns to his native country at the end of Underbank’s season, explained that confidence in the side is now ‘sky-high’.

He added: “Last week we knew we had to step up to the mark. We gritted our teeth and showed how much we wanted it.

“The guys now believe we can win this competition.”

But, although he was impressed with the manner of their last result, Perrin believes his team still needs to improve.

“We made a lot of mistakes last week, mainly by getting impatient attacking their line,” added Perrin. “I think we were getting a bit over-excited in parts.”

Similar to their last play-off game, Rangers head to Warrington as underdogs after two defeats against their opponents in the regular season.

However, captain Dave Edwards, who will also leave the club at the end of the season, thinks the team can perform better and will rise to their next challenge.

“Against Dewsbury, we were probably around 80% at our best.

“Everyone was focused and we duly went away winners.

“When the team as a whole works well together like we did, it also makes your individual game much easier.

“There is definitely more to come from us.”

In terms of their last encounter with the Wizards, a 34-10 defeat 16 days ago, Edwards added: “We didn’t turn up to play that night.

“I don’t want to make excuses but things were not in our favour then – our bus to the ground was late and people were going straight from work.

“This time, we will turn up and start at 2.30pm as opposed to 8pm. I definitely think we can match them at least.”
