CHRIS NERO believes the Giants are hitting form at just the right time.

The Australian centre will leave Huddersfield at the end of the year and is strongly linked with a move across to Bradford Bulls.

But the powerful 26-year-old, who this week was named the club’s Players’ Player of the Year, admits the only thing on his mind right now is the Giants’ bid for play-off glory.

“There’s a really good feel about the place right now and we’re confident we can give an excellent account of ourselves in the semis,” said Nero, pictured.

“Obviously, we’ve got to focus fully on our away game at Hull KR tomorrow (7.00).

“The last thing we want is to play badly in this one and lose some of our momentum going into the play-offs.

“As it stands right now, we’re taking some good form into the play-offs, and that could count for a tremendous amount, so we don’t want to lose any this weekend.

“And we’re using the example of Salford last year as why it’s important to be peaking for the last few games of the regular season.

“Salford got into the top six last year on the back of a fantastic start to the season.

“They lost their form as the season drew to a close, and they went into the play-offs with no momentum behind them at all.

“A| a result, their play-off bid never got started.

“We feel it could be different for us.

“Our form is good, we’ve got the momentum behind us and the squad is relatively healthy.

“You really can’t ask for anything more than that at this stage. Everything looks to be in place for a successful end to our season.”

Nero will again be in the starting line-up, with Giants chief Jon Sharp set to name an unchanged back line.

But there may be a change in the pack, with prop Darrell Griffin back in the squad after recovering from a dead leg.
