RISING Giants star Paul White is closing in on a return to Super League action.

The lightning-fast 21-year-old has not played since suffering a broken leg in the pre-season win over Castleford on January 30.

Head coach Jon Sharp has ruled out including the scrum half in his squad for Sunday's top-flight trip to Warrington Wolves (3.00).

But he admits he could be back in action the following weekend.

"Paul has come on leaps and bounds in the past few weeks, and his fitness levels have amazed the medical staff," reported Sharp.

"He may need a run or two in the Academy to test out his match fitness, but it's obvious he wants to get back on the Super League stage as quickly as possible.

"He's already made himself available for next weekend.

"And that's excellent news, not only for Paul but for the club as a whole.

"The more competition for places I have in the Super League squad the better.

"What it means is that those players who take to the field at Warrington on Sunday now know there's an extra man looking to claim their spot.

"It's up to those already in the side to make it as difficult as possible for me to find a place for Paul if I believe he merits one."
