HI, it’s Andy here. Well, as I’m writing this I’m still bitterly disappointed by our performance in France last Saturday.

I know all the players involved were equally frustrated by losing so badly, and this must be matched by the frustration felt by those loyal fans who travelled all that way to see such a below-par performance.

We did play poorly, but this was compounded by the fact the Catalans side played so well and showed why they are firmly placed in a top three spot in Super League.

As a team, we know we are better than we showed on Saturday – we proved that in our superb win a week earlier against Hull KR.

It is amazing the highs and lows that can be felt in one week in rugby league. We went from celebrating a win where we scored 50 points to mourning a loss in the following game by 48 points.

Inconsistency in form is one of the greatest mysteries in professional sport, there are many books written on the topic and I’m sure if someone had the definitive answer they would be a very rich person indeed!

This appears to be our problem at the moment.

I am convinced, however, the answer isn’t the sacking of players or coaching staff.

Here at Huddersfield we have a top-quality head coach and coaching staff from whom I have learned an immeasurable amount; their commitment to the cause cannot be questioned.

Coupled with a playing roster that must be the envy of much of Super League, we have the formula for great things.

Unfortunately, the unpredictable nature of sport, the very thing that makes sport so exciting to watch, is what we are being punished by.

It seems that at the moment we are tossing a coin and consistently coming up with tails when we want heads.

Our luck is sure to change and, when it does, there will be many more wins for us this season.

The Challenge Cup weekend and the rearranged Wigan game have given us two weeks where we don’t play.

This has enabled us to rest sore bodies from the contact of competition while still being able to train hard for the final 12 games of the regular season.

I am hoping this break can be the springboard we need to achieve a top six play-off place.

Rest assured the players and coaching staff are all still focused on and working hard towards that goal.
