WIGAN'S Great Britain international Stephen Wild has joined the Giants!

The 24-year-old centre or second-rower has turned his back on a final year with the Warriors to sign a two-year contract at the Galpharm.

He becomes the Giants' third signing for Super League XI, following the earlier capture of Andy Raleigh from Hull KR and Wakefield's Steve Snitch.

And Huddersfield continue to be linked with Wild's former Wigan teammate Martin Aspinwall and also Bradford's Robbie Paul.

The 6ft 3in, 16st Wild is a member of the Great Britain 40-man squad for this autumn's Tri-Nations series.

He made his Lions debut in the narrow 12-8 defeat to Australia in Manchester in the nation's opening Tri-Nations clash in October last year.

And Giants officials believe his capture is further proof of the progress being made by the club in Super League.

"Stephen's signing is a huge coup for our club and a clear indication of our current standing in the game," said Giants general manager Richard Thewlis.

"He brings international experience with him, and at 24 still has his best years ahead of him.

"I am sure this signing will be met with delight among our growing supporter base for what is already shaping up to be a mouth-watering 2006.

"And I am also sure it will have sent out a signal to the rest of Super League of how determined this club is to become a major force."
