LEEDS and Bradford showed their staying power to gain emphatic away victories which put them ahead of earlier leaders Huddersfield at the top of the fledgling Tetley's Super League table.

Both Yorkshire sides were holding tenuous half-time leads but turned on the power after the break to run out comfortable winners.

The Rhinos led just 12-8 with 20 minutes left of their derby against Castleford but former Giants coach Tony Smith's side stepped up the pressure to run out 34-8 winners with the aid of four quick tries, one of which enabled stand-off Danny McGuire to complete his hat trick.

Bradford looked to be suffering a hangover from the Challenge Cup defeat by St Helens when they led only 10-6 halfway through their match at Wakefield.

But they clicked into gear after the interval, with six unanswered tries sealing a 40-6 triumph.
