TWO players chalked up try hat tricks as Huddersfield Giants Under 18s kept up their bid for Junior Academy First Division glory with a 58-14 win over Keighley at the Galpharm.

Glenn Holdsworth and Luke George were the teenagers in form as Huddersfield made their most of their chance to shine on the big stage in the curtain-raiser to Sunday's Giants-Castleford meeting.

Huddersfield are second to Warrington, two points adrift with three games still to go.

Holdsworth was the first tryscorer on Sunday, popping over from close range in the fifth minute, with Thomas Hemingway landing the first of nine goals.

He repeated the feat after 18 minutes, and after Keighley had pulled a try back, George burst through for a 70-metre solo effort in the 29th minute.

Good handling enabled Holdsworth to complete his hat trick on the half hour, and George went in a minute before the break to make it 28-4 at half-time.

The scoring spree continued in the second half as Jack Watson shot throught from 50 metres.

Gareth Hull then got in on the act before Shane Walton claimed his second try for the Cougars.

George completed his hat trick with another solo sprint through after 52 minutes, and while Keighley claimed a third try on 58, the Giants finished the stronger.

Leroy Cudjoe counted after 74 minutes, when Hemingway goaled from the touchline.

And James Martin finished the scoring three minutes from time.

Huddersfield host Leigh at Laund Hill on Saturday (2.30) while Warrington make the long trip to Ruislip to take on third-placed London Broncos.
