GIANTS Reserve grade prop Sam Crowther has joined Co-operative Championship club Gateshead Thunder on a month’s loan.

The 21-year-old has been a top performer in Paul Cook’s team throughout this season.

And Galpharm head coach Nathan Brown is keen to see him tested at a higher level.

“Sam has obviously caught the Thunders’ eye with his form and I am keen to see him at a higher level than reserves,” said Brown.

“The move is a good chance for him to put himself forward and I see it as a win-win all round. He has many props in front of him here, so this will help his development enormously and give us a good chance to see him against better players for a full month.”

Crowther is expected to make his debut against Doncaster tonight.
