Kruise Leeming has admitted the Huddersfield Giants’ 34-18 defeat to St Helens under new boss Rick Stone has hit the players hard.

But the 20-year-old hooker knows a return to winning ways is just around the corner – and in time for Huddersfield’s assault on the Middle 8s.

“To lose to Saints was obviously disappointing,” said Leeming. “You could see the lads were all working hard for each other, it was just the fine detail that was letting us down.

“But we know it’ll come, none of us has any doubt about that.

“Rick’s only been here a couple of days but he’s already making a difference.

“He’s immediately brought in a bit of a new culture, and I’m really enjoying it.

“Okay, we were still guilty of making the same old errors in the game against Saints, but that’s because the changes he’s putting in place won’t happen overnight.

“The aim is using the next couple of games to make sure we hit our real form in the Middle 8s, that’s our big focus.

“We’ll look to build on Rick’s way of playing at Warrington on Saturday, and then make sure we’re 100% ready for the massive games we’ve got ahead of us.

“As a group, we know we’re good enough, it’s just a case of following what Rick tells us and taking that out onto the field.

“It’s going to be really tough going over there (at Warrington), because they’re in very good form, so we know it’s going to be a huge challenge for us.

“But we’re not thinking too much about the opposition at the moment. All out focus is taking on board what Rick tells us.”
