Pupils at Wooldale Junior School have been getting into the Rugby League World Cup spirit.

They have been taking part in after school activities led by Huddersfield Giants Community Trust.

They learned some of the skills of the game and put them into practice at their own mini tournament – the Primary Rugby League Festival – at Leeds Road Playing Fields.

The tournament featured younger players from different schools taking part in small-sided games.

Community Coach Craig Lee, who runs the Wooldale Junior after school club, said: “It’s fantastic to see World Cup fever is gripping primary school children.”

Wooldale Junior School is one of a number of schools that have been working with Huddersfield Giants in a project commissioned by Kirklees Council in the year of the Rugby League World Cup.
