YMCA include a big new signing for tomorrow’s visit to Doncaster Phoenix for the re-arranged Yorkshire II game (2.15) postponed back in September.

Ex-Coventry prop forward Laurence Sanderson will make his debut, as does University capture Tom Lockwood, who comes in at scrum half for the injured Simon Wilson.

But it is definitely the recruitment of Sanderson – who has recently moved into the area – which will fire the imagination as only 12 months ago he was playing for Coventry in National League Division I!

Andy Lyon also returns to a seat on the bench after a long injury lay-off, alongside another exciting signing, Tom Sharrock, who has crossed Town from Lockwood Park.

“Tom is an excellent signing for us, although he has only just got over a quite serious leg injury, and a full run out tomorrow might just be a week or so too soon for him,” said coach Damon Scholes.

Although one or two players are close to returning, YM’s injury list only succeeded in growing last week, and Scholes is now faced with losing Neil Pollock for a month, while Wilson could be out for another two or three weeks, as will Fabio Leonne-Mazza.

On the plus side he starts with Jack Housley in the second row, who impressed during last week when he played for Yorkshire’s Under 19s against the Midlands at Sheffield Tigers.

YMCA: Horner; Beever, Stead, Williams, Shaw; Swift, Lockwood (T); Sanderson, Dyke (Stu), Dyke (Ste), Whitehead, Housley, Hodge, Doyne, Walker. Subs: Lyon, Sharrock, Sellars, Lumb.
