YMCA will look to build on a confidence-boosting win when they take on Knottingley in Yorkshire I at home tomorrow (3.00).

The Laund Hill outfit came away from Dinnington with a comfortable 27-3 triumph and first team coach Jody Shaw was looking for the side to progress from what was an impressive team performance.

“Obviously we want to back up the win we got at Dinnington, and the guys have been full of confidence at training this week,” said Shaw.

“But I feel that we have been getting better in terms of our performances for the last three or four weeks.

“We could say we were still finding our feet at a higher level earlier in the season, but we can’t really use that as an excuse, and hopefully we can now start building on the good team performances we have been putting in of late.

“We have stepped up our standards week by week and the players have worked very hard in training, so hopefully we will benefit from that.”

YM will be without centre Chris Williams who has a leg injury and he will be replaced by Alex Shaw, while Bobby Bahadori is unavailable to play at full-back so Josh Marshall will take his place. Also getting his chance as Shaw moves inside is winger James Tindall.

“He has played as a substitute before, but this is James’ first full start and we are very excited to see how he goes,” added Shaw.

“He fully deserves his chance as he has been scoring plenty of tries in the second team.”

And Shaw said that the club could be looking to further new faces in the first team.

“We are very close to making a couple more signings,” said Shaw.

“We are hoping to be able to bring those players in over the next couple of weeks as we continue to look to strengthen the squad.”
