AFTER moving up to 10th in the table with a comprehensive win over Rugby Lions last week, Huddersfield RU are looking forward to pitting themselves against one of the National League’s top six when Luctonians visit Lockwood Park tomorrow (3.00).

The Leominster side will certainly present coach Dan Hyde’s team with a much stiffer test than the one they faced last week in Warwickshire, where Rugby conceded 28 points in the first half, and only gave the scoreline some respectability with a couple of tries in the second period after the game was almost done and dusted.

That said, Huddersfield did earn a 21-21 draw at Luctonians earlier in the season, in what Hyde described as one of the team’s best away performances of the season.

“Luctonians are a very consistent side, and we know it will be a hard game. But we took a lot of positives out of our win at Rugby last week,” reflected the coach, who starts tomorrow’s game at No8.

“It’s good to have hooker Ben Morrill back in the fold after missing a spell out following the concussion he picked up against Hull.

“He’s been given the all-clear, and has been spending time working in the gym and is itching to get back into action.

“I thought we were a but unlucky not to win at Luctonians earlier in the season.

“But we know if we hope to get the result tomorrow we must make sure we put a full 80 minutes together.”

With James Wood still at least a week away from returning from injury, Mike Clarke teams up again with Lee Paxman in the centres, with Dave Hall and Simon Pratt on the wings.

Elsewhere the squad is very much as normal with the exception of young Academy centre Harry Whitfield, who has earned a call-up to the first team bench.

Huddersfield: Owen; Pratt, Clarke, L Paxman, Hall; Johnson, Hinchliffe; Stringwell, Morrill, Battye, Brown, Rhodes, Sharpe, Lewis, Hyde. Subs: Lancaster, Davies, Hinchliff, Rothery, Whitfield.
