Heath were beaten 36-10 by Yorkshire I leaders Dinnington to North Dean.

The home side were hoping to increase a run of four wins on the trot but knew Dinnington would be very strong.

Through unavailability and injury, Josh Lister, Si Brown and Mick Gleeson played for Rob Thackray, Sam Pollard and Ezra Hinchliffe and, on the bench, there was a welcome return for Joe Shipman while Alex McFadden had another chance to impress.

Playing in new kit sponsored by Pure Travel, Heath were quickly under the cosh but Euan Miller, Stephen Hare and Olly Cook did well until Ryan Donnelly opened the Dinnington account with a try, converted by Johnny West.

Heath came straight back and after good runs from Chris Moore, Matt Baxendale and Hare, Dominic Walsh kicked through. Si Brown followed up and appeared to have scored but the try was disallowed because of an earlier infringement.

Heath kept up the pressure and Walsh went over for a try on 14 minutes to shock the visitors.  An excellent conversion from Mick Gleeson levelled it at 7-7.

Heath had Darren Neilly and Ian Downsborough influential with Alex Cust and Hare also prominent, and they went ahead with a Gleeson penalty.

Dinnington then cranked up the pressure and went over for a try which West converted to put them 14-10 ahead at half time.

West put Dinnington further ahead with a try on 47 minutes and, after a couple of home mistakes, he grabbed another try five minutes later.

Captain Mark Puttick endeavoured to rally his Heath troops and coach Hamish Pratt went on at 56 minutes when Brown limped off. Brown’s respite lasted four minutes before he had to go back on for Miller as injuries piled up.

Dinnington clinched a bonus point for five tries when Dudley surged through on 65 minutes and, three minutes later, Chris Williams outflanked Lister’s best efforts and scored in the corner to round off the scoring.

Heath next travel to North Ribblesdale.
