HEATH COLTS fought their way to an impressive 20-14 victory at Sheffield.

A late Peter Birkett try, converted by Ezra Hinchcliffe gave the away side the victory, following two earlier tries from Ben Coney-Critchley and a Jack Crabtree penalty.

With Lewis Foxton ill on the day, Kofi Brobby moved into the front row and Hinchcliffe was switched to the wing – meaning uncontested scrums.

Crabtree’s penalty just three minutes into the match gave Heath a platform to build on.

The away side wasted several chances to increase their lead, failing to take advantage of an overlap on three occasions.

However, a superb flowing move from one side of the field to the other resulted in a Coney- Critchley try.

Sheffield’s larger pack began to exert themselves.

Guilty of failing to tackle low, Heath failed to halt the home side’s momentum and they soon scored a try.

Following the disappointment, there were a series of big hits from Hare, Birkett, Davis and Hinchcliffe.

The sides went in at the break with the game poised at 7-8.

Foxton, still feeling unwell, asked to enter the action which allowed the scrums to be contested.

In the opening stages of the second half Heath were struggling to find their rhythm.

That was until another sweeping move – this time involving the impressive Jordan Moana – ended with Coney-Critchley scoring in the corner.

Sheffield again came back with some powerful drives.

Slack tackling from Heath allowed their opponents through and when the Sheffield try was converted it meant Heath were trailing 14-13.

However, late pressure led to a penalty which Birkett chose to tap – driving over the line and giving his side the win.
