HUDDERSFIELD Under 19 side enjoyed their first run out in weeks and enjoyed a feast of tries at Wath on Dearne as they notched a 67-10 victory.

Although out of action because of cancellations and then the Christmas break, Huddersfield still had a number of players out due to injury, but were fortunate enough to have a number of the Under 17 squad available for selection.

Both sides lacked any shape in the first half, but Wath’s big pack dominated the early exchanges for little reward.

However, Huddersfield counter-attacked well and bagged tries from Under 19 skipper Josh Walker, who played half an hour for the first team the previous day at Stourbridge, Gypsy Black and Allen Carr.

The home side were rewarded with a try by their excellent loose-head just before half-time.

The second half was a repetition of the first with some poor kicking from Wath being exploited by the quick Huddersfield backline.

This resulted in the debutant full-back Black picking up two more tries along with centre Carr, both players completing a hat trick to start the new year.

Huddersfield’s defence, led by terrific man-of-the-match Sam Crompton, began to dominate in the tackle and negate the Wath forwards as further touchdowns came from Sam Bambury, Dan Bodsworth and a brace for winger Nathanial Scott.
