Buoyed-up Huddersfield travel to rivals Bradford & Bingley looking for a second successive victory to launch their National III North campaign.
After the victory against Billingham, they come up against New Zealand rugby league legend Henry Paul’s side, who suffered a heavy 46-12 loss to Burnage in their opening game.
Huddersfield are also looking to match last season’s Yorkshire Cup clash against the same opposition, when they won 28-21 (winger Ben Mitchell dislocated a collarbone).
Field manager Lee Paxman said: “We expect a strong bid to bounce back from Bradford, with it being a local derby, and we expect a lot of work around the contact, so it will be a great game.”
Although Huddersfield are the form side, they are still looking to improve.
“We have been heavily critical of our performance against Billingham and need to improve quickly,” added Paxman. “The squad have been working hard. Hopefully we will be able to improve our performance and continue to build.”
The only confirmed change to the starting side for Huddersfield is Laurence Sanderson in for vice-captain Alex Battye, who took a heavy blow to the face against Billingham.
Winger Mitchell is also carrying an injury and is rated no more than 50/50 so Bradford old boy Adam Sutcliffe is waiting in the wings to face his former team.
At Lockwood Park the Falcons team will face the Bradford Second XV (3.00) looking to bounce back from a narrow defeat at the hands of Wheatley Mills.
As with every home fixture this season, kids go free and support would be welcome
