TOWN Ladies suffered a first North-East Premier League defeat of the season – 4-1 at Morley Spurs.

Aiming to avenge their FA Women’s Cup defeat two weeks earlier, Town went ahead after 20 minutes.

There was a stroke of luck about the goal as Kate Mallin’s inswinging corner eluded attackers and defenders to go straight in.

The lead only lasted eight minutes, with Morley levelling from a free-klck.

Town’s Dawn Kellett headed against the bar in the 33rd minute.

Then Morley also hit the woodwork.

Kellett was wide five minutes into the second half before Morley began to dominate.

The chalked up two goals in six minutes around the hour mark to take control.

The fourth came in the final minute.

Morley’s win meant they leapfrogged previous leaders Town, who are in action at Doncaster on Sunday (2.00).

Town Under 12s beat Brighouse 8-3 thanks to Rebecca Moore (5), Lucy Ellis, Alice Linsell and Seana Potts.

The Under 14s lost 2-1 at Lepton Highlanders. Sarah Spence scored.
