IN-FORM Huddersfield Academy continued their unbeaten run when they beat Roundhegians 12-5 in a re-arranged League II fixture.

Despite having the bulk of possession in the early stages, the only thing Huddersfield had to show for their efforts was a missed penalty from Tom Owen who was narrowly wide from 35m out.

But they did break the deadlock midway through the half when, following a number of phases of forward possession, the ball came out to prop Phil Stanislaus, who powered over the line for an unconverted try.

The second half opened with the home side losing their tight-head prop, and having no replacement the game went to uncontested scrums, which appeared to be of benefit toRoundhegians, resulting in them levelling the match following an interception by the home centre.

But the score seemed to galvanise Huddersfield, and they reverted to keeping possession and making small gains.

The tactic proved successful, and when the ball was eventually spun out, fly-half Owen jinked his way over the line for the winning score and Ben Calverley added the conversion.
