HUDDERSFIELD Rugby Union Club’s stand-out stand-off Chris Johnson is on the verge of international honours – and could play at Twickenham!

The talented No10, doing well in National III North, has been selected for the 22-man England Counties squad.

It’s recognition both for the club and for Johnson, as most of the squad have been chosen from teams in leagues above Huddersfield.

Johnson is in line to face Ireland in Dublin on Friday, February 27, before Counties follow up with a game against France Amateurs at Twickenham, on Sunday, March 15, straight after the Six Nations game.

Johnson (pictured) could also make a three-match tour of Korea and Japan in June.

Captained by Blackheath’s Liam Wordley, much of the squad are new this season, with 15 of the 22 players set to make their Counties debut at Donnybrook in Dublin before they line up for that historic first match at Twickenham.

And Huddersfield have earned even more kudos with the selection of young second row Ben Harris for Yorkshire’s Under 20 squad.

Harris, who began his career at YMCA and is now established at Lockwood Park, will join his county colleagues for the match against Northumberland at Tynedale tomorrow.
