HUDDERSFIELD RU Club Under 10s came down to earth with a bump when they were well beaten 35-5 by rivals Old Rishworthians.

After great wins over Ilkley and West Park Leeds, the Huddersfield lads were in confident mood, particularly after taking the lead from a James Addy try after good work from Anna Davies and Arthur Wilkinson.

Anna almost scored a second soon after, but was tackled just short and in reaching out for the line lost possession.

Rishworthians fought back, with two penalties giving them free passes seven metres out and leading to two tries, and Huddersfield found they were 10-5 down at the interval.

The second half was all about Rishworthians, however, as they ran in five unanswered tries and the game was stopped early to prevent a rout.

Arthur Wilkinson was voted man-of-the-match.

The Welsh Rugby Union has unveiled plans for a £2m centre of excellence.

The facility, at the Wales squad’s existing training base in Hensol near Llantrisant, will involve three full-size pitches being laid, including an arena with an artificial pitch and floodlights.

Two half-size pitches are also on the agenda for technical skills such as kicking, lineouts and the scrummaging.
