HUDDERSFIELD Giants will stage the remainder of their Reserve and Academy fixtures at Huddersfield YMCA.

The club had been staging the games at Moldgreen’s DRAM Centre, but that venue has come in for criticism and, after a recent Academy game was called off by a match official due to the condition of the playing surface, the Rugby Football League stepped in.

“Currently the ground doesn’t meet the Academy and Reserves’ minimum standards and, as such, it isn’t suitable for games to go ahead there,” said Bill Appleton, the operation and performance consultant to the RFL.

The first fixture to be staged back up at the YMCA’s Laund Hill ground will take place tomorrow (2.00) when Wakefield Trinity Wildcats are the visitors in an Academy Championship clash.

And it’s a game the club’s Under 18s should be confident of winning after securing a 38-20 triumph at Widnes Vikings last Sunday.
