HUDDERSFIELDŠRugby Union Club’s Under 17s will look to add to their successes this season in tomorrow night’s home clash with Yarnbury.

The side, who are having a fantastic season, are looking to progress in the Yorkshire (West) Floodlit Cup against their rivals from Horsforth.

They have already booked a last-four place in the National Plate against Aldwinians.

Field’s youngsters beat Crewe and Nantwich 13-7 away in the quarter-finals, while earlier in the season they defeated West Park Leeds, again away, 14-3 in the first round of the Floodlit Cup.

West Park had beaten Huddersfield twice last season, and are currently top of Yorkshire League Division II.

In the second round the Lockwood Park side – without several of their starting line-up – defeated Wharfedale 27-19 in a see-saw match.

On the League front, Huddersfield are just one game away from winning Yorkshire Division III, and hold the best defensive record in the League having lost just once this season.

Coach Mike Baggs has brought the lads through from the Under 6 age group and is naturally delighted at the progress the side have made.

“There is a superb team spirit among the lads, and that really counts for a lot in the tough games,” said Baggs.

“Having coached the team from Under 6, it’s great for me to see, and now we’re looking forward to the National Plate semi-final.”
